Day 1: Delhi/Mumbai to Guwahati, Stay in Guwahati

🌄 Arrival in Guwahati & Local Exploration

✈️ Arrival at Guwahati by Flight:

Welcome to Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India! Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by our representative at the airport.

🚗 Transfer to Hotel:

You will be transferred to your hotel, where you can freshen up and relax after your journey.

🌆 Local Town Tour:

After freshening up, we’ll begin our local sightseeing tour in Guwahati. The tour will include a visit to some key attractions like the Kamakhya Temple, Umananda Temple, and Assam State Museum (if time permits). You will get a glimpse of the local culture, heritage, and scenic beauty of Guwahati.

🚢 Evening Cruise on the Brahmaputra River:

In the evening, we’ll head to the Brahmaputra River for a relaxing cruise. Enjoy the serene beauty of the river, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and city skyline. This is a perfect way to experience the tranquil side of Guwahati.

🏨 Return to the Hotel:

After the cruise, you will be transferred back to the hotel.

🍽️ Dinner & Rest:

Enjoy a delightful dinner at the hotel and unwind, resting up for an exciting day ahead.

 

Day 2 : Guwahati Local sightseeing

🌄 Cultural and Spiritual Tour of Assam

🚗 After breakfast, we’ll begin our cultural tour of Assam.

🏛️ Visit Assam State Museum:

Our first stop is the Assam State Museum, where you’ll get to explore the rich heritage and culture of Assam. The museum showcases ancient artifacts, traditional crafts, and the history of Assam, offering a deep insight into the region’s heritage.

🚗 Drive to Bheemashankar Temple in Guwahati:

After breakfast, we will visit the Bheemashankar Temple in Guwahati, a well-known Shiva temple. It is believed to be a sacred site for devotees and is known for its spiritual significance and serene atmosphere.

🍽️ Lunch at 1:30 PM:

After visiting these fascinating sites, we will break for a traditional lunch to recharge.

🧵 Visit Sualkuchi (Manchester of Assam):

Post-lunch, we’ll visit Sualkuchi, known as the Manchester of Assam for its silk weaving culture. The town is famous for its handwoven fabrics produced on wooden frame looms. You’ll witness the traditional weaving process using both indigenous silks and other yarns, and explore the unique weaving styles of the indigenous tribes of Assam.

🏨 Return to Hotel:

After an enriching day of exploration, we’ll head back to the hotel for a relaxing evening.

🍽️ Dinner & Rest:

Enjoy a delightful dinner and unwind for the night, ready for more experiences tomorrow.

Day 3 : Guwahati to Shillong (Mountain Road)

🌄 Journey to Shillong with Scenic Stop at Umiam Lake

🚗 After breakfast, check out and begin the drive to Shillong.

🌊 Halt at Umiam Lake:

On the way, we’ll stop at the stunning Umiam Lake, also known as Bara Pani. Situated 15 km north of Shillong, this reservoir was created in the early 1960s by damming the Umiam River. The catchment area of the lake spans 225 square kilometres’, and the picturesque setting in the hills makes it a perfect spot for a break. Enjoy the serene beauty of the lake, surrounded by lush landscapes and hills.

🌸 Best Time to Visit Shillong:

If you’re visiting between September and May, you’re in for an ideal experience, with pleasant weather perfect for sightseeing. The winter months (November to February) offer a crisp chill, while spring (March to May) brings vibrant blooms across the hills, making the surroundings even more enchanting.

🏨 Arrival at Shillong:

After the visit to Umiam Lake, we’ll head towards Shillong and check into our hotel.

🛍️ Explore Local Market (Optional):

In the evening, you may choose to explore the local markets of Shillong, where you can shop for local handicrafts, clothing, and more.

Day 4: Shillong to Cherrapunjee.

🌄 Journey to Cherrapunjee with Cultural Stops

🚗 After breakfast, check out and begin the drive to Cherrapunjee.

🖼️ Visit Don Bosco Museum (9:00 AM): Our first stop is the Don Bosco Museum, a seven-story marvel that showcases the rich diversity of Northeast India. As you enter, you’ll be greeted by traditional attire from the various North-Eastern communities. The museum also features well-curated sections on neighbouring countries like Bhutan, Myanmar, and Nepal.

Spend time exploring the museum’s fascinating visuals and rare photography collection, which captures tribal life across generations. You could easily lose yourself for hours in the exhibits, each room offering insights into the region’s vibrant culture, history, and heritage.

🌿 Visit Garden of Caves: Next, we head to the Garden of Caves, a historical site used by the Khasi tribes as a hiding place from the British during the colonial era. The caves, surrounded by virgin forests, are a testament to the tribe’s clever use of the natural landscape for protection. The area’s deep jungles and entwining creepers make this an intriguing and peaceful spot for history lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

🏨 Arrival at CherraPunji: After exploring, we drive further to CherraPunji, where we’ll check into our hotel/resort.

🚗 After breakfast, embark on a scenic local tour.

🌿 Visit Pynursla Living Root Bridge:

Our first stop is the Pynursla Living Root Bridge, located in Mawkyrnot, in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. This is the longest living root bridge in Meghalaya, spanning an impressive 53 meters (174 feet). It stands as a testament to the ingenuity of the Khasi people. The village of Mawkyrnot is home to several root bridges, and you can reach them with a short, comfortable hike through a quiet, primeval forest.

As you hike, be prepared to be stunned by the diversity of landscapes in Pynursla—lush, humid jungles give way to plateau grasslands, offering stunning views of the pine-dotted countryside of Langkawet, known for its picturesque small lakes.

🚣‍♂️ Boating at Umngot River (Dawki River):

Next, we head to the Umngot River, also known as Dawki River. This crystal-clear river, surrounded by lush landscapes, is perfect for boating and kayaking. The beauty of the river and its serene environment make it one of Meghalaya’s most popular natural attractions.

Day 6: Cherrapunjee to KNP

🌄 Journey to Kaziranga National Park

🚗 After breakfast, check out and drive towards Kaziranga National Park. Today is a travel day with no sightseeing, but we’ll make stops to enjoy some local experiences.

🍽️ Lunch – Ethnic Assamese Cuisine:

We’ll halt for a traditional Assamese lunch, where you can indulge in a variety of authentic local dishes. After lunch, we will take a quick bio-break before continuing the drive.

⛪ Visit to Maha Mrityunjaya Temple (Shiva Temple):

On the way, we will visit the Maha Mrityunjaya Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Nagaon. This unique temple is known for its architectural marvel, built in the form of a Shivling. Standing at an awe-inspiring 126 feet, it holds the title of the world’s largest Shivalinga, making it a must-see for those interested in architecture and spiritual sites.

🍵 Evening Tea Break:

Enjoy a relaxing tea break before we continue our journey towards Kaziranga National Park.

🏨 Arrival at Kaziranga:

After the tea break, we will reach Kaziranga National Park and check into our hotel.

Day 7: KNP Local

Begin your day with an unforgettable elephant safari in the Western Range of Kaziranga National Park. Feel the thrill as you ride through the grasslands and jungle, witnessing the majestic one-horned rhinoceros, wild elephants, and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

🏨 Return to the hotel: After the safari, head back to the hotel for a hearty breakfast to fuel up for an exciting day ahead.

🌸 Morning – Orchid Park Visit:

We’ll then visit the largest orchid park in Northeast India, sprawling over 6 acres in Durgapur village. This stunning park is home to over 500 varieties of wild orchids, 132 species of sour fruits and leafy vegetables, 46 species of bamboo, 12 species of cane, and more. The park’s lush flora enhances the beauty and biodiversity of Kaziranga, making it a must-see for nature lovers.

🚙 Afternoon – Jeep Safari (Central Range):

After lunch, we’ll embark on a thrilling jeep safari to the Central Range of Kaziranga. Explore the dense forests and wetlands, keeping your eyes peeled for elusive tigers, wild buffaloes, and a wide variety of birds.

🎭 Evening – Cultural Event:

Day 8: KNP to Majuli

🚗 After breakfast, check out and embark on a scenic drive towards Majuli. Upon reaching the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River, we board a ferry to cross the waters and step onto the world’s largest river island—Majuli.

Beyond its cultural heritage, Majuli’s serene landscapes provide the perfect setting for meditation, yoga, and spiritual rejuvenation, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking peace and inner harmony.

🔹 Garamur Satra (Est. 1656) – Known for its grand Ras Lila Festival, this satra houses a small museum showcasing ancient artifacts and weapons.

🔹 Samuguri Satra – Famous for its unique mask-making tradition, started by Saint Srimanta Sankardeva, where intricate masks bring mythological characters to life.

🔹 Kamalabari Satra – A hub for art, culture, and spirituality, this satra serves as a religious school where people from all backgrounds can practice Vaishnavism.
