The trail traces the historic route taken by British officers, Lt. Col. F. M. Bailey and Capt H. T. Morshead during their survey in the Arunachal-Tibet border to draw the famous McMohan line in 1914 British India. The route which gained popularity as the Bailey Trail goes through remote forests, high mountain passes, crystal clear lakes, abandoned army bunkers and breathtaking views of Gorichen and Kangto peaks.

DAY 1
GUWAHATI – BHALUKPONG (5-6 HRS) (245 KM) (BY VEHICLE)
Today we drive from Guwahati to Bhalukpong and check in at a hotel in Bhalukpong. Bhalukpong is the entry point to Arunachal Pradesh. In the evening hours, explore around the locality, followed by a delicious dinner before retiring to our rooms.
DAY 2
BHALUKPONG – BOMDILA – THEMBANG – (2300 MTRS) (142 KM) (5-6 HRS)
We explore Thembang today; legends say it to be the most ancient village established before the 1st Century AD. It is surrounded by majestic lush green hills, steep gorges and snow-clad peaks.
DAY 3
THEMBANG – PANGMA – LAGAAM VILLAGE (2650 MTRS) 10 KM
Today we trek through Pagma— a village with a small population. Watch the villagers out in the hills grazing their yaks before the arrival of winter.
DAY 4
LAGAAM VILLAGE – LAGAAM TOP (3172 MTRS) 8 KM
We start our trek after prayer at the village monastery. The first 3 km is an uphill hike until we arrive at the motorable road that leads to the ITBP camp. We set up our camps today camp near the ITBP camp.
DAY 5
LAGAAM TOP – CHANGLA (3751 MTRS) 15 KM
Our trek today is primarily through a forest covered route and advancing we come across isolated Indian Army bunkers used during the Indo-China war. The Chinese army used the Bailey trail during the war to reach Thembang.
DAY 6
CHANGLA – POTOK (4180 MTRS) 12 KM
Today we start with a steep climb to Pshing La Pass (3950 meters) and descend through a forest of rhododendrons. Crossing a stream before continuing our climb to the high alpine pastures of Potak, we set up our camp at a beautiful spot near the stream.
DAY 7
POTOK – TSE LA PASS (4711 METERS) – LURTHIM (4142 METERS) 15 KM
On the way to Tse La Pass, today, we visit an alpine lake near the pass and continue our climb. Reaching Sela Pass completes the hardest part of today’s trek. We then descend to the ITBP camp to report and continue our trek to reach the campsite.
DAY 8
LURTHIM – MAGO (3531 METERS) 17 KM
Today we trek through a few steep sections but generally easy stretches through the forest. We also cross a few yak huts on the way to Mago and camp near the village.
DAY 9
MAGO – THINGBU HYDEL (2736 METERS)
Trek along the Tawang-chu River and a steep climb to reach the village. We cross a few suspension bridges on the way and camp near the village.
DAY 10
THINGBU HYDEL – TAWANG
Drive by local taxi to Tawang today and on the way visit the spectacular Jung falls. Reaching Tawang, we check-in at a hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 11
TAWANG
Explore Tawang on your own, the land of the Monpa Tribe, famous for the 400 years old, second-largest monastery in Asia- The Tawang Monastery. Also, visit Urgelling Monastery – the birthplace of the Sixth Dalai Lama and Tawang War Memorial.
DAY 12
TAWANG – BOMDILA (BY VEHICLE)
Travelling back on the same route we head towards Bomdila, located beyond the Dirang Valley. Stay at Bomdila.
DAY 13
BOMDILA – GUWAHATI
In the morning we visit Bomdila Monastery and head towards Guwahati. Overnight at Guwahati.
DAY 14
GUWAHATI
Post breakfast our guests are transferred to Guwahati airport for their onward journeys.
